When a tooth is too broken down for a simple filling, or a gap has been left by a missing tooth, crowns and bridges are the classic, reliable way to rebuild your bite. They are among the most common restorative treatments in dentistry — and, made well, they can be almost impossible to tell from natural teeth.
What a crown does
A crown is a custom-made cap that covers a weakened tooth completely, restoring its shape, strength and appearance. It is often the right finish after a root canal or a very large filling, where too little natural tooth remains to be reliable on its own. Modern ceramic crowns are shaded and shaped to match the teeth around them.
What a bridge does
A bridge literally bridges the gap left by a missing tooth, using the teeth on either side — or an implant — for support. As well as restoring your smile and your ability to chew, it stops the neighbouring teeth from drifting into the space, which can otherwise upset your bite over time.
Made to match
Getting a crown or bridge right is precise work: the fit against the gum, the way it meets the opposing teeth, and the colour all have to be correct. Because ours are planned by a prosthodontist, that attention to fit and finish is built in — so the result is comfortable and looks like it simply belongs.
Looking after them
Crowns and bridges are strong, but the natural tooth and gum underneath still need daily cleaning and regular check-ups to stay healthy. Cared for well, they give many years of reliable service. A consultation is the best way to see which option suits your tooth.
