Restorative Dentistry

The term ‘restorative dentistry’ is used to indicate integrated management of oral health problems by restoring the mouth to a functional and aesthetic state. It may include a range of treatments such as dental implants, crowns & bridges, root canals, dentures, tooth fillings and more.

Dental Implants

A dental implant is simply a titanium screw, between 8mm and 16mm long, that is inserted into the jaw bone and acts as a replacement root for the missing tooth. At Salona's Dental Care, we would be happy to discuss if dental implants could benefit you.

Why have dental implants?

  • Look and feel like natural teeth
  • No damage to the adjacent teeth
  • Most likely to last the longest over a bridge or a denture.
  • Great chewing ability as being anchored in the bone allows you to have the same bite force as you would with natural teeth.

Crowns & Bridges

When root canals, large fillings, extensive decay, and chipped or cracked enamel weaken the structure of our teeth – making them more prone to breaking, a crown or cap is then placed to strengthen the tooth structure. For missing teeth or gaps, a bridge/ fixed partial denture is one of the options.

At Salona's Dental Care, we strive to give our patients as many options as possible. We offer all-porcelain crowns/ bridges, porcelain crowns/bridges with a metal base, and gold crowns. Each type has their pros and cons and any one may be more appropriate to your specific situation. Dr. Nohria can show you examples of the different crowns and discuss their benefits with regards to your oral health.

Dentures

A denture is a removable replacement for missing teeth. It is good for restoring aesthetics but does not involve replacing the root. Dentures consist of a base with acrylic teeth set into it and are supported by the gums. Full dentures are indicated when you are missing all your teeth, and partial dentures are for people who still have some of their natural teeth.

At Salona's Dental Care, we offer an array of denture options for people missing a few, many, or all their teeth such as –

  • Removable complete and partial acrylic dentures
  • Implant supported full dentures
  • Flexible partial dentures
  • Cast partial dentures

Modern Root Canal Treatment

Often as a result of a fracture, trauma, or excessive decay, the tooth becomes infected leading to abscess formation. If left untreated, this infection can spread to other parts of the body and cause serious health problems. A root canal is the only way dentists can save an abscessed tooth. It requires drilling into the centre of the tooth and removing the infected blood vessels and nerve tissue and once the canals have been thoroughly cleaned, disinfected and obturated (filled), the tooth is filled temporarily.

At Salona's Dental Care, we have Dr. Aditya Nohria, who has specialized in Endodontics (root canals) from University of Manchester, U.K. He incorporates dental microscope and other state-of-the-art equipment such as apex locator, rotary instruments to treat cases of root canal with greater precision and finesse.

Composite / Tooth Colored Fillings

A composite filling is a tooth colored filling which is used to restore a decayed tooth (cavities). It can also be used for cosmetic improvements of the smile by changing the color of the teeth or reshaping disfigured teeth.
